The NIV is the best-selling translation. This translation is very straightforward and more of a contemporary English. This translation was meant to be helpful for everyone and easy to understand. I had this version when I was in elementary-middle school.

      2. New Living Translation (NLT)- Reading Level Ages 11+

The New Living Translation is perfect for every age and season of your life. NLT is a translation that is easy to read and understand. It accurately conveys the meaning of the original text. This is a good bible if you are looking for a started bible or one that is simple and easy to understand.

3. English Standard Version (ESV)– Reading Level Ages 15+

The ESV uses the classic principles of word-for-word translation. This translation is very poetic. ESV is highly accurate. The ESV closely conveys the original meaning of the text in clear, readable, enduring English.

4. King James Version (KJV)– Reading Level Ages 17+

The KJV is the only english version translated word for word. This translation is probably the best if you want exact accuracy. This translation may not be the simplest but it is the most faithful to the original. It was completed in 1611 and because of this the vernacular is quite different from that of today.

         5. New King James Version (NKJV)- Reading Level Ages 12+

This translation updates the language of the King James Version, changing old and out of date words, while holding on to its basic literary structure. This version is a more modern language update of the original KJV.
