Identity in Christ

Seeing yourself as Christ sees you!

Finding your identity is something everyone goes though. Who are you? What do you like? How do you see your self? How do other people see you? These are all thing we think of when we think of our identify, the only thing is that instead of finding our identify in Christ and the word of God we look to the worlds opinion and what they have to say about us.

The opinion of man is not what you should see yourself or be it is the opinion of God and what he says about you that is important. The world is not the kindest and can say some cruel things about you. The world has said that I am not beautiful, and that I am a nobody and that nobody loves me or that I have no purpose in my life and that I am fat, etcetera. When people hear this things they start to take them and make them there identify. But we shouldn’t look to mans opinion for our identity but Christ. The word says “ shall not be afraid in any mans presence, for the judgment is God’s” -Deuteronomy 1:17

You might be thinking well you say my identity should be found in Christ but what does Christ say about me what does the word of God say about me?

The bible says so many things on how God sees you and who you are some important ones are the following:

You Are Choose “But you are chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” -1 Peter 2:9

You Are Purposeful “For we are Gods handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to” -Ephesians 2:10

You Are Beautiful “you are all together beautiful my darling there is no flaw in you” -Song of Solomon 4:7

You Are A Masterpiece “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” -Ephesians 2:10

You Are Loved “He brought me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love” -Song of Solomon 2:4

You Are Set Apart You have been set apart as a holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.” -Deuteronomy 14:2

He also says that you are a child of God, powerful, pure, forgiven, blessed, worthy, holy, accepted, sealed with the Holy Spirit, alive in Him, a new creation, you are his and these are just a few of the things that God says that you are.

There was a time in my life where I struggled with my identity. I believed with people said about me and not my father. I thought how can I be what God says I am. There came a point in my life where enough was enough and I told my myself I am not going to stand on what the world says about me but what Christ says.

So what I did was write a word that describes me as God says I am and then a scripture to back it up, kinda of like what I did above. Your words have power in Proverbs 18:20-21 It says “Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest. Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit-you choose”. So every morning I would declare the word of God over me and my life. I would speak it out loud because my words have power. It changed the way I saw myself I started to see myself the way that Jesus sees me. So instead of listen to what man has to say about you listen to the word of God and declare it over your life.

If you can learn to say it you can learn to believe it! So declare the truth of your identity everyday until it reigns true to yourself, that it is strong what you believe if anyone tells you otherwise you know its a lie because what God says about you is the truth you identity is only found in Christ and no where else!

Praying for Peace

Peace is such a beautiful thing that God gives me. When I feel peace I know that it is all because of God and that I am usually doing his works. So here are some scriptures to stand on and declare when you are praying for peace.

Lord, I thank you for your great peace which you gave to me because I love your law – nothing can make me stumble. -Psalm 119:165

Thank you, Lord, for keeping me in perfect peace because my mind is steadfast and I trust in you.     -Isaiah 26:3

Lord, thank you for your peace, though I will have troubles in this world, I can know your peace because you have overcome the world. – John 16:3

Lord, I pray you will fill me with joy and peace as I trust in you, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

Thank you, Lord, for being my peace. –Ephesians 2:14

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you that you give me and overwhelming peace. LORD I thank you that you guide my step every single day of my life and that there is a peace in every decision, action words i speak and make. That it is a supernatural peace from you. That I wouldn’t be worried are fearful but surrounded by you love in Jesus name amen.

The Greatest Love Of All

The greatest love of all is the love of God. His love is unwavering, unchanging, beautiful, steadfast, absolute, all-powerful, consuming, pure, restoring, unconditional, gracious, healing, kind, and the only love that will ever satisfy you.

“I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”                        -Jeremiah 31:3

Gods love is everlasting and unfailing. He will never stop loving you. You can be the worst person on the planet and he will still love you the same. It so crazy to think of a love like this when the worlds version of love changes all the time and is so conditional, but Gods love is nothing like human love. We can love someone one minute and not even care for them the next, but Gods love is completely pure. We don’t have to try to earn it because he gives it to us freely. I once heard someone once say “God loves you more  in one moment than anyone can love you in a lifetime”.  That is sometimes even hard to comprehend, to think, someone can love you their whole life and can even make you happy but God loves you more in just one moment that anyone else can in your entire life.

Some people think, well God doesn’t love me after all the things I have done or said but that’s not true. He loves you more than you even know. In the bible it says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we are still sinners” -Romans 5:8. That means that he loved us before we even came to him, before we even knew him, when we were living in sin and not following him. He has loved us through it all even when you are as far from Him as possible because his love is unconditional and he loves you through it all. In every season and every moment he chose you. He picked you. He purposed you. He LOVES you!

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, not even the power of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below indeed- nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”                          -Romans 8:38-39

Romans 8:38-39 is one of my favorite scripture on Gods love for us. I am in awe that God tells us that “nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God”. This scripture just reminds me that no matter what happens in the entire universe, nothing can take away the love that God has for us.

Declare: Gods love is like no other. His love gives me value and purpose. His love is steadfast and will never leave me. His love for me is the purest love I will ever receive.  It is unconditional and I don’t have to earn Gods love but he gives it to me freely. Gods love can restore my broken heart and hurt. His love is all that I will ever need. I will pursue him and love Him because he first loved me. Gods love is the greatest love of all!

“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”                                                                         -Psalm 136:26
